During BIOACTION’s consortium meeting in Udine, Italy, during 16–17 April 2024, the project partner INsociety set up short interviews with project members for them to share their roles, perspectives, and expertise within the project. Recorded during the coffee brakes of the meeting, these interviews offered a moment for the people behind BIOACTION to reflect and talk about what they value and what they are looking forward to beyond their current results.

Maria Grazia Raucci, a senior scientist at IPCB-CNR, is bio engineering and researching hydrogels for implant applications.
Diego Cotella
Diego Cotella is an assistant professor at Università del Piemonte Orientale and a task leader at BIOACTION. His focus is on engineering bacteria with genes that promote tissue proliferation and regeneration, an important piece of our mission to improve infection treatments.
Giovanna Gomez d’Ayala
Giovanna Gomez d’Ayala is a researcher at IPCB-CNR preparing and characterising the polymer-based materials used in BIOACTION. She is very interested in alginates because they are derived from renewable sources.
Marco Chittò
Meet Marco Chittò, a postdoctoral researcher at AO Research Institute Davos (ARI), is testing BIOACTION’s hydrogels on intraosseous implants alongside other project partners like Ferentis and the University of Liège.
Mariangela Clemente
Mariangela Clemente, is a research fellow at CNR’s Institute of Biological Systems developing complex liposomes to help us reform bacteria. She is preparing giant Janus liposomes that can interact with hydrogels and bacteria at the same time and deliver new genetic instructions to help bacteria help patients.
Óscar Castaño
Óscar Castaño is a senior researcher at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC). He and his team are analysing the mechanical properties of the injectable hydrogels.
Romuald Eimont
Romuald Eimont is a junior researcher at Ferentis developing hydrogel coatings that can deliver gene carriers to implant infections.
